This is where NATA gets interesting. The exam pattern is divided into two distinct parts — one tests your creative hand, the other tests your analytical mind.

Part A: Drawing and Composition Test (Offline, 90 Minutes, 80 Marks)
Part A is the creative soul of NATA. It’s conducted offline (pen-and-paper) and consists of 3 questions:

A1 — Composition and Colour (25 marks): Creating suitable compositions for various situations and coloring them appropriately. Rearranging shapes in visually appealing manner and coloring suitably

A2 — Sketching & Composition (25 marks): Ability to draw, visualize, and depict a situation involving buildings, people, environment, and products with understanding of scale, proportions, textures, shades, and shadows
A3 — 3D Composition (30 marks): Creating interesting 3D compositions for given situations using the provided kit
Part B: MCQ & NCQ Test (Online Adaptive, 90 Minutes, 120 Marks)
Part B is conducted as a Computer-Based Adaptive Test with 108 seconds per question. It consists of:

- Visual Reasoning: Understanding and reconstructing 2D and 3D compositions
- Logical Derivation: Decoding situations, drawing conclusions, understanding hidden information
- General Knowledge, Architecture & Design: Awareness of architecture, design, current issues, important buildings, materials, and construction technology
- Language Interpretation: English grammar, sentence meaning, vocabulary
- Design Sensitivity & Thinking: Observing and analyzing people, spaces, products, and environments; critical thinking and problem identification
Numerical Ability: Basic mathematics, geometry, and spatial calculations
Marking Scheme
- No negative marking for any question — attempt everything!
- Part A is evaluated manually by trained experts
- Part B is evaluated automatically by the computer
Total: 200 marks (Part A: 80 + Part B: 120)
Qualifying Marks
To qualify NATA 2027, you need:
- Minimum 70 marks out of 200
- At least 20 marks in Part A
At least 30 marks in Part B
Tie-Breaking Rules
If two candidates score the same marks, the tie is broken by:
- Higher marks in Mathematics (Part B)
- Fewer wrong answers in the Mathematics section
- Higher marks in the Aptitude test
- Older candidate
- Fewer wrong answers in the Aptitude Test
